Tadworth has a long history and is mentioned in the Domesday Book. Tadworth Court dates from around 1700 and was acquired by Great Ormond Street Hospital in 1927, later becoming home to The Children’s Trust. Other historic properties in the area include 16th century Hunters Hall and Meare Close House which also dates back several centuries.
A well known landmark in Tadworth is its windmill. There were originally two mills built on the site. One, bearing an inscription dating it back to 1799, was destroyed in 1890, while the surviving mill is thought to date from the same period. The windmill can be seen from paths on the Common.
